Doing a demonstration of En Plein-air Painting , and Getting ready to start another painting at a paint-out.
Drawing since the age of two, art has always been a part of Brad Greek’s life. Primarily self educated through experimenting with many medium, material, and subject matters, and a natural talent. Brad studied art and architectural drafting at school in his home state of Ohio. A tour of duty in the Military brought him south, and rural life in Georgia and the Florida Panhandle has influenced much of his work. Exploring many mediums over the years, Greek has exhibited particular painting skill in oils and acrylics, and expertise at exacting detail work in many scratchboard drawings of aviation and wildlife subjects. Rural scenes, tropical vistas and dramatic coastlines, along with imaginative fantasy subjects comprise most of Greek’s portfolio. Recently joining a Plein-Air Group in Florida, Brad has found great inspiration in capturing local landmarks, land and sea scapes, as well as the beauty of the local area.
An award-winning artist, Brad has created numerous commissions, and has participated in many juried and invitational exhibits including the Beaux Art Exhibition, Northwest Florida Fine Arts Exhibition, and the Arts and Design Society Juried Art shows and member only exhibitions. Brad has also created an annual art awareness event in his local area. Brad has entered into the art market with Signed and numbered, Limited Edition Giclee Prints, which are available on most of his work. His work my be viewed in many locations around the Panhandle of Florida. As well as on his online website at: http://www.artbybradgreek.com , with links to many other online galleries where his work may be viewed.
Brad currently resides in Florida with his wife and four children.
“I enjoy painting from a vision I get while studying the work in progress, creating as it appears to me on canvas. I am inclined to paint with a detailed style of realism, but will venture into more of a symbolic, surrealistic style as well. And the future may hold many other styles.”
“Most artists are known for one certain style or subject matter. I understand the logic behind this common practice in the art world. But I feel that this stereotyping of an artist’s creativity limits their potential abilities. I have found it impossible to stay with one style or medium, due to the inspirations to create what drives me. I will do series of like pieces for a show or gallery presentation on occasion. But the search to create something different has taken me across the spectrum of styles, medium and subject matters. Bringing a variety of work to the table, in my opinion, opens up more appeal to the variety of collectors in the world. Keeping the minds wondering on what I will create next.”
